Swim evaluations are conducted at
the beginning of each season (in September) for the purpose of grouping the
swimmers in their appropriate classification. The Coaches will evaluate
these initial groupings for about two weeks and make adjustments as necessary.
We ask that you please refrain from questioning the
placements or requesting your child be moved until mid-October.
At that time if you have a question regarding their placement please see one of
the coaches and they will be happy to discuss it with you. Please also remember
that evaluation is an ongoing process so no group is permanent. The groups have
been established to help motivate your swimmer by placing them with other
swimmers of their ability and to give them something to work toward.

and butterfly. Participation in meets is not mandatory and the pre-team
season ends in mid January. (Practice 2 times per week, generally
Tuesdays and Thursdays and some Saturdays)

|
Rays
here... |
Iintended to give swimmers an opportunity to
become proficient in all four strokes, starts and turns. Emphasis is
placed on reinforcing freestyle and backstroke technique and developing
breaststroke and butterfly. As the season progresses, some conditioning
is introduced. (Practice 2 or 3 times per week, and Saturdays) |
|
Dolphins
here... |
Provides experienced swimmers proficient in the
four strokes a chance to continue developing their technique. In
addition, swimmers partake in aerobic conditioning and are formally
introduced to timed sets. Fins are required for this group. (Practice 3
or 4 times per week and Saturdays) |
|
Marlins
here... |
Intended to prepare swimmers for and serve as a
transition to intensive aerobic training. Emphasis is still placed on
proper stroke technique. Swimmers in this group are proficient in each
stroke and are able to participate in swimming sets while keeping time
on their own. Swimmers in this group are self-motivated and come to
practice focused and prepared. (Practice 4 days per week and
Saturdays--practice at Ursinus College Tuesdays and Thursdays
6:45-7:45pm) |
|
Sharks
here... |
This very intensive training group provides
experienced, committed, and motivated swimmers an opportunity to
practice more frequently. Practices are designed with a strong focus on
both in the water and out of the water conditioning. Proper stroke
techniques are reinforced throughout in the water training. Swimmers in
this group are required to come to practice with a positive attitude and
a strong work ethic. Fins are required for this group. (Practice 4 days
per week and Saturdays--practice at Ursinus College Tuesdays and
Thursdays 7:30-9:00pm) |
Please Note:
All swimmers MUST attend the practice they are assigned. "Practice
Hopping" is not permitted (the Coach's have been receiving requests to
alter practice days/times for the children. Unfortunately, this voids
the "Grouping" concept)
