PVAC Girls Team ~ Meet Wrap vs. CRAC

Girls ~ Thank you to everyone who "braved the storm" so to speak and to your parents. Those of you who could not make it--we know you were with us in spirit. Saturday's SAL League Championship "Consolation" meet was a tight one, and we did not take control of the meet until the free relays. In fact, Council Rock was within 18 points of us after fly. The final score of the swimming portion of the meet:

PVAC 327 CRAC 276

Girls Meet results are here...

With diving still to be contested, we have mathamatically clinched our 6th win of the year, as we are just over the threshold number! Great job ladies and
CONGRATULATIONS on your 2nd straight "3rd place finish" in the Suburban Aquatic League and 4th straight "6 win season". That's 25-4 in the past 4 seasons!  Excellent work.

The PVAC/CRAC Result splits, listed in our Meet Results, are not all accurate and the times are not accurate in the 11-12 free relay. The actual winning time of the Girls 11-12 free relay was a 1:53.67. The time set the CR pool record. Congrats
Elizabeth Turner, Lauren Bonsall, Elle Thorneloe, and  Emily Hodges
.

Saturday's meet was about a lot of things, mainly about lowering times for champs--individual and relay. We did that across the board with big drops in many of the relays, and a great finish in the free relays.

This  week's
Piranha awards (past winners here...) go to two girls who swam events, and then swam the longer version of the event in the older age group (filling in for mising swimmers) to score points for the team.

Morgan Stone swam well in the 11-12 50 back, 13-14 100 back and 13-14 200 iM.

Kelly Franz did the same in the 11-12 50 breast, and 13-14 100 breast, and
then convinced me we were going to win the meet with a 1st place finish in
     the 100 IM

... and great job to
Fernanda Bernal who finished 2nd in that event!  Congratulations Morgan and Kelly.

Also, Congratulations to
Madison Fritz, who set the team record in the 25 breaststroke with a winning time of 18.59.  Wow, that's fast, awesome job and congrats!!

One last thank you to
Caroline Hodgins, Ashley Dix, Kristin Zeigler, Gabby Jaeske, and  Megan Mylett for participation in their final PVAC dual meet. We will miss you girls, thank you for all your support and your contribution to this team.

Ok, now the goals of the season turn from team to individual. The next 2-3 weeks are about purely individual and relay swims. We will work the details, starts--turns--finishes--and relay starts in preparation for Division and League champs.
SAL Girls Division Champs will be held Sunday February 5th at PVAC (details here...), and SAL Girls League Champs willl be held Sunday February 12th  at LaSalle University. Swimmers should think about what they would like to swim. if your swimmer is likely to qualify for SAL League Champs, I will talk to you at practice this week.   (Overview of Division Champs -and- League Champs here...)

6 Wins / 1 Loss ---  3rd place of 22 teams in the Suburban Aquatic League! I am so proud of all of you girls for being the GREATEST TEAM in PVAC history!!!!  You deserve this, and I hope you've enjoyed the ride as much as I have.

Have a great evening and see you at the pool!!

Coach Brian
